Well Adjusted Seating was created by John Stephens, a practising chiropractor who regularly saw people struggling with poor seating, unsuitable equipment and badly adjusted workstations.
The aim is not to diagnose you through an office-chair appointment or promise that a chair will cure back pain. It is to help remove the guesswork and identify seating that is better suited to your body and the way you work.
That means looking beyond brand names and discussing matters such as seat depth, lumbar-support position, armrest height, movement, desk height and how many hours you normally sit.

An appointment is relaxed and practical. There is no expectation that you must arrive knowing which chair or feature you need.
We discuss how you work
We look at your current chair, desk setup, typical working day, preferred sitting style and anything that has made previous chairs uncomfortable.
You compare suitable chairs
John will show you how to adjust the chairs and explain why different mechanisms, seats and backrests feel different.
You decide without pressure
You may find a clear favourite, arrange a local trial or simply leave with a better understanding of what you should be looking for.
Try your chosen chair at your own desk
A showroom appointment helps narrow down the choice, but your own desk is where the chair really needs to work.
Selected chairs are available through our free local 48-hour trial service within approximately 15 miles of Emsworth, subject to availability and suitability. This allows you to experience the chair during a normal working day before committing to it.
Sometimes the right advice is not to buy yet
Not every seating problem requires the most expensive chair. Sometimes a better setup, a different adjustment or a more suitable size makes the greatest difference.

I visited John for an in-person chat and to try out the different models. He was professional and very helpful. After a few weeks of using it, the back pain has eased. The adjustability is better than anything I found on chairs at Ikea or John Lewis. It was easy to assemble after delivery and feels very solidly built.
